M Streets / Knox / Henderson
Farmland was neatly subdivided in the 1910s and 1920s to create a few of the city’s oldest neighborhoods. The M Streets (also known as Greenland Hills) has established conservation districts to preserve the tidy Tudors and Craftsman cottages that give the area its signature historic charm. Interest in this humble, hilly neighborhood has spiked in recent years. Its streets lined with cozy, well-crafted homes appeal to young professionals, new and established families, and empty-nesters alike who also want the added benefits of being close to downtown and surrounded by the city’s major thoroughfares.
Knox-Henderson is one of the city’s most vibrant nightlife districts, packed with diners, upscale gastropubs, and mellow, late-night cafes. The Katy Trail, a former railroad that’s now a popular jogging and cycling route, runs along the neighborhood's west edge.
